FAQ
Q: What do I wear to a gi class? A: We provide professionally cleaned and sanitized loaner gis for you to wear during your trial classes. Your 30-day trial membership purchase will include a gi. Please wear flip flops or slides, you will be required to wear these while you are off the mat. You will be barefoot while on the mats. Please do not wear socks as they become slippery on the mats and this could increase your risk of injury. Shirts (preferably rashguards) and undergarments are to be worn under gi at all times.
Q: What do I wear to nogi class? A: A rashguard (form-fitting, moisture-wicking shirt typically made from materials like polyester or spandex) or swim shirt and grappling shorts (athletic shorts without zippers or pockets, often tighter fitting than regular shorts). Spats (tight-fitting male leggings worn under grappling shorts to provide an extra layer of protection for the skin) can also be worn under grappling shorts. Females have the option to wear leggings (no pockets) or grappling shorts. It's important for males to wear shorts over their spats. Avoid items with holes, pockets, metal or plastic components, as these can lead to injuries or damage to training mats.
Both males and females must wear at least two layers of cloth on the bottom. Rashguards for all are required in gi and nogi. Females need a sports bra as a second layer under rashguards. Tank tops and shirts that do not cover the entire torso are not permitted.
Q: What if I’m late to class? A: If you are late to class, please be sure to check in with the front desk first. If no one is available, please quietly come on the mats without disrupting instruction. Be sure to shake hands with all black belts when the opportunity permits.
Q: Do you have a locker room? A: Yes! We have men’s and women’s changing rooms.

Q: What can I expect from my first class? A: We are friendly and open to new guests. Our members are happy to help anyone who has little or no experience on the mats. Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions of the instructors on the mats. If you are unsure, just ask the person next to you. We are family here!
